Guglielmo ZAPPALÀ (APE 2020/PhD 2023) received the Allianz Trade Award!
On December 2nd, Guglielmo ZAPPALÀ (APE 2020/PhD 2023) received, as part of the Allianz Climate Risk Awards, the Allianz Trade Award, for his paper “Propagation of extreme heat in agriculture across sectors and space”.
In this paper, Guglielmo, now Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University, highlights how the agricultural sector is a key link in the global production network. While the macroeconomic impact of extreme heat is often underestimated, its shock is actually amplified by agriculture's role. Therefore, adapting the regions most integrated into the global production network could then generate benefits for downstream sectors and regions.
The Allianz Trade Award celebrates early-career researchers working on how climate risk is affecting global trade.
